WATERCOLOUR & ACRYLIC ART
About the artist
Bev Letard is an artist from Umhlanga Rocks, KZN, South Africa. She is a certified associate member of the Watercolour Society of South Africa. Her art career was inspired by her introduction to a Chinese Master artist of international acclaim. He has now become her personal mentor and friend. The subject which particularly took Bev's interest was the Koi fish and she is invited each year by the Koi Society of South Africa to exhibit her work at their national and international shows.
Bev runs art workshops every month passing on the techniques she has been taught to her students who range from beginner to advanced levels. Her passion is most definitely the water-based mediums. Her style borrows the best artistic elements from 2 different worlds - the traditional painting techniques of the East and the watercolour theory of the West. Her works, both colourful and bright, have a distinctive 'Zen' feel about them and she produces images that echo the spirit and personality of the natural world around us. She has participated in many local exhibitions and has sold much work both in South Africa and internationally.
On the social side, Bev is very involved in helping some impoverished communities in South Africa. She nominated a lady by the name of 'Grace' as the Clarins Fairlady Woman of the Year, which was subsequently awarded to her. Grace and Bev have been featured on the International Travel Channel on the programme "It's a Woman's World". This programme documents the work various woman are doing in different countries of the world.
